Living Beyond F.E.A.R

Fear shows up in many ways.

In fact, some would say that fear is the main contributing factor to everything we do.

When we think of fear we picture a hooded figure with a knife chasing us down, pick your favorite horror movie.

But in life there isn’t anyone chasing us (hopefully) and no dramatic music comes on to let us know that we are in danger. More often, we don’t even know its there threatening the lifeblood of our dreams and goals.

Because it disguises itself.

Fear doesn’t knock on the door and tell you ‘I’m here to kill your dreams!’ Fear is much too smart for that. Fear wears many disguises.

Do any of these sound familiar?

  1. Doubt… do i really want that? I mean really does it really matter all that much?

  2. Dissuasion… Its a lot of work, maybe I should not bother. It was a little over ambitious of me…

  3. Delay… Of course I’ll do it later, later is the perfect time to do it!

  4. Distraction… Scroll, scroll, like, comment, hours pass, scroll, scroll

  5. Denial… Everything is fine! *she screams*

  6. Disaster… Your physical body wants the status quo and your immune system gives way to illness

I think each of us has our own go-to when we face fear. I personally am a distraction /delay person and can suffer from procrastination and inertia when I am under pressure.

The most important thing is that we are able to be aware of our orientation so that we can interrupt negative patterns that keep us from achieving success.

Recognizing our fear is the only way to move past it. Learn the lesson and move on.
