Discovering your Gifts and Purpose

how to find your passion and purpose

Living a life of purpose brings personal power, freedom and fulfillment of mind, body and soul.  It awakens us to the unique gifts and talents each of us bring and our place in the wonderous universe.  We must clear a path for our passions and purpose to emerge and then embrace the riches that we find.  The riches that it promises will expand our entire lives.

1. We must genuinely know ourselves - To find our passion we must take the time to truly know who we are, gather the confidence to speak our truth and act with integrity.  Do you really know what matters most to you? What makes your heart swell with joy and happiness? Identify these things and know your true self.

2. Be open to support - You are not an isolated being, maintain a strong connection to a support system of family, friends and acquaintances that will help you to stay motivated towards your goals and open to alternative ways of thinking.

3. Stay open to the flow of your soul – ‘Go with the flow’ the hippies would say and they have a point.  Stay positive and oriented towards growth and development.  Your passions will reveal themselves with ease when you are in a good mental space to listen to and observe your flow of energy.

4. Give yourself a break – Too much scheduling makes everyone and everything a little dull to say the least.  Allow yourself the freedom to do nothing and see what emerges from these sessions.  Put down the phone and come up with something to do that sparks curiosity and intrigue.

5. Too much of a good thing…. – turning your passion into your profession is liberation from a job you may dislike.  It can also be economic emancipation and independence in a world where the labor market is unpredictable at best.  However, the decision to turn your passion into your income should not be taken lightly and a full evaluation of your ambitions in this area along with market potential to live comfortably.

6.  Accepting our authentic self – We might have a vocation, we might have a job but we always have creative expression.  A vocation is when we generate our income doing the work we feel we were put onto this earth to do.  A job is one where you are paid money to do it.  Creative expression is any way that we authentically and originally use our personal agency to express ourselves.

7. Dedication to purpose – When we discover our passions and our purpose, we fully realize that the power that breaths us has a plan for us.  We embrace that as we recognize it as our authentic higher self who we are growing into.

Whether we embrace our passion as a hobby or a vocation, we will always have creative expression which is our gift in this world.   When we embrace our purpose we recognize the powerful energy and spirit that runs through us and that we are here for a reason.  We will flourish in a remarkable truth; that we are where we are supposed to be.
